The tracked aerial platform Leopard 18 – I 46 kV is a platform model specifically designed for aerial work near live power lines. Suitable for power line maintenance, electrical system installations and other general industrial applications. The Leopard 18 – I is electrically insulated up to 46kV with a working height of 18 m and a 12 m maximum outreach. The Leopard 18 -I is developed to provide “maximum security while manoeuvring” and reduce the risk of electrocution when working on electrical applications.

- Aerial platform made of high strength steel that grants maximum rigidity in boom and maximum working safety.
- The sub frame with the aim to couple the platform with the self-propelled base with petrol engine and electric motor.
- Stability is given by No.4 outriggers; each pair is made of two hydraulic jacks with double effect valve connected to the main hydraulic circuit.
- Spider with or battery and electric motor the ground through the outriggers.
- Double purpose turret for boom support and rotation. One hydraulic engine coupled with one reducer allows turret 360° rotation on fifth wheel coupling. One rotating joint, assembled inside the turret, allows movements without hose twisting.
- The steel structure and the booms are made of high strength steel to grant great stability to the whole platform.
- Maximum inclination tolerance 30%
• 1 ST articulated boom (lower) single pantograph
• 2 ND telescopic boom (upper) made of 2 elements (1 fixed + 1 telescopic extension). The positioning of the telescopic cylinders and hoses inside the boom guarantee protection against collisions, accidental fall of tools, etc. The boom allows increasing both vertically and horizontally the platform working area. - Fiberglass basket insulated up to 46KV. The basket is made to support and protect the operators. The aerial platform can be moved by means of controls positioned in the basket.
- 100% hydraulic controls with proportional system in the basket to allow gradual and accurate movements. The hydraulic system guarantees a long-lasting life to the platform with maintenance costs reduced at minimum.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION OF STANDARD FEATURES
This model of platform is designed to easily work on electric power lines under medium voltage. The insulating basket, the insulating boom and all the special components guarantee the maximum safety for the operators. The machine
is equipped with predisposition to measure grounding leakage. The main features of this special insulated model are the following:
• Basket made of certified dielectric resin

• Pre-arrangement for the mounting of the electricity leakage detection device
• Start & Stop controls with remote dielectric activation
• Filtering system for the oil residual humidity

- • Emergency controls from the ground.
• The stop valves are directly mounted on each hydraulic cylinder.
• The movements of the whole platform are activated by levers, respectively positioned in the following control
panels:
– basket: platform control board
– turret: platform control board for emergency only
– sub frame: outriggers control board
- • Emergency controls from the ground.
- • Interlock outriggers-boom: Outriggers block when the boom is not in rest position + Boom block when
outriggers are not completely stabilised.
• Moment Limiting Device
• Emergency hand pump allows every movement in case the main pump is damaged, it allows the return of the boom and outriggers in rest position; it can also work with flat battery.
• All movements are obtained through hydraulic double-acting jacks with dual safety valve checking both inlet and outlet of oil from the cylinder.
• Engine start & stop from basket and ground – special insulated device
• Thermal protective device for the electric system.
• Safety device to prevent the starter connection if engine is on.

- OUTRIGGERS AND DRIVE CONTROLS:
By remote control:
• proportional movements of translation
• automatic and independent stabilization of the outriggers
• visual control of each single outrigger
• possibility to use the remote control on the basket and at the ground
• control of engine RPM to increase the maximum translation speed
• engine start and stop from the remote control
• possibility to lift the telescopic boom to increase the slope edge when loading or unloading from the truck

• Constant and gradual automatic leveling of the basket with independent hydraulic circuit
• Access from the top of the basket for maximum protection against electric contacts
• No. 2 hooks for safety belts

• Warning light inside the cab to indicate PTO on
• Mechanical or electrical clutch
• Hour counter in the cab to check the working hours and the frequency of the scheduled tests
- Thanks to high quality painting of the sub frame and aerial platform, all metal components are protected against corrosion. All the insulating components are painted in white color
- Platform fixing to the vehicle sub frame, hydraulic and electric connections, and ballasting, if necessary
